Quiche Lorraine, golden crust and savory goodness
This recipe from the Lorraine terroir is very old, it could possibly date back from the 16th century, from this Eastern region of France that borders with Germany. Quiche Lorraine is a variation between the quiche and the salty pie seen in the traditional Lorraine and French cuisines. The recipe is really simple and delicious, made from shortcrust pastry or puff pastry.
Ingredients : Bacon (lardons), butter, eggs, cream, milk, nutmeg, salt & pepper
Modern variations include salmon quiche or vegetarian/vegan quiche, etc.
The best way to enjoy a Quiche Lorraine is to make it pretty thick! A good quiche is also golden without being overcooked. You can eat it hot or cold, and also serve it with a green salad.
A very simple recipe but a real delight!
