Tacos, Mexico

Best finger food in the world. It’s love within a small wedge of flavor busting tortilla!

Traditional Mexican tacos (usually served by 2 or 3 – singular is taco) are small corn tortillas (corn/maize-based small crepes, deep fried hard-shells or not if for soft-shell tacos) that are folded or rolled and filled with various spicy mixtures, such as seasoned mince, chicken, fish, cheese or beans. Tacos are usually served with garnishes like as tomato salsa, chili peppers, avocado or guacamole, cilantro, fresh diced tomatoes, onions, and lettuce.

The best tacos in the capital city Mexico DF, are usually found at street vendors near places like Michoacán, in the Condesa ayuntamiento (arrondissement/district), or inside the Mercado Coyoacán, but you can also enjoy the famous tacos “al pastor” (a Lebanese immigrants’ legacy using thinly sliced pork, marinated in chilli sauce and spit roasted) at El Huequito, Ayuntamiento 21, only a few blocks south of the Alameda, Centro.
