Bibimbap literally means “mixed rice”. The dish is a “mix it yourself before eating” kind of deal. It offers great customization options. You can make it as spicy as you want, or not.
The Korean “mixed rice”.
Steaming hot rice is usually placed in a stone or cast iron bowl. Added on top are mixed vegetables, sliced beef, a raw egg, chili pepper paste and soy sauce.
Then, you stir and mix it just before eating it. The raw egg finishes cooking with the heat of the steamed rice and the bowl.
The dish is flavorful and offers a good combination of carbs, protein, and vegetables for a fully satisfying meal.
